RecordMe App Reviews

Finally an app that works...

So I think I have purchasd 5 different apps today, all I wanted was something that would let me record video from my integrated iSight Camera and microphone and give me just a little flex room on things such as video size, audio type and such, iMovie was too clumsy and QuickTime Player not flexible enough. Every app I purchased had some sort of issue with El Capitan from no audio to skewed video to unreadable output files, all bad. Sixth time is the charm in this case, about to request refunds on the others and hang with this one, works perfectly and unless you need to change settings like I did, there is just one button that starts, stops, saves and plays back automagically. Don’t worry, this review is real, the app works great and the price is right. Enjoy!

Awful UI

This looks like a beginners project to learn how to start writing iOS apps. Its not ready to be a paid app. Problems include: - The resolution dropdown has a lot of unneccesary info that does nothing but distract from selecting a resolution. e.g. "YCbCr -uyvy, 1280 x 720" it looks quit cryptic. Why not just "1280 x 720"? - the drop down for sample rate and bit depth is unlabelled. All items that are 16-but repeat "Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer" and all 24 bit item are preceeded by "Linear PCM, 24 bit little-endian floating point". This is overly redundant and just makes it harder to see what you are selecting. Stereo is always Left and Right so no need to say "Stereo (LR) every time. For example, instead of "Linear PCM, 24 bit little-endian signed integer, 44100 Hz, Stereo (LR)" could be "24 bit 44100 Hz Stereo PCM". - Preset dropdown repeats "AVCaptureSessionPreset" at the beginning of every preset. That does nothing to identify the preset so it is unnecessary. - The use of one button for "Start Record /Stop and save" is a bad idea. There is no feedback when you are actually recording so you dont know if it started. IF you press the button again to try to make sure you have started, you are actually stopping it. Most of the time it ends up saving nothing. I maaged to get it to record one time but since there is no feedback, Im not sure what I did differently. It would be much better to have used a standard recorder style with a record button that displayed a blinking red light when it is in record mode. Then a separate stop button that is only enable when it is not stopped. Since this app is a one trick pony - record video, it should at a minimum support pausing (using a separate pause button and feedback when it is engaged).

Apple should not allow this.

Apple should have some type of quality assurance review for any apps that make it to the App Store. Version 1.0 lacks a command to save the video. Version 1.0 lacks the ability to review the video. This App is completely useless and a waste of my money. Shame on Apple for allowing such garbage on their site. Im new to Apps. This was my second App purchase. This purchase was a good learning exercise. I learned that Apple allows completely worthless Apps on their site and it is buyer beware.

It works just fine!

Ok.. so I read the review AFTER buying it. But I decided to see for myself anyway. There is a start /stop & save button. It works. It saved the video. The format was right. I am happy. Easiest 1.99 spent. Better than $50 for Camtasia just so I can record video from my cam directly to the computer. Fine to me.

Simple and works great.

Not sure what the negative review is about, but you click "Record/Save" it records, you click it again, it stops. Up pops a "save" box to name your file and decide which folder it is in. THE RECORD BUTTON AND SAVE BUTTON ARE THE SAME BUTTON. Once you save it, it automatically pops up in Quicktime, ready to play. You can change resolution, frames per second, audio quality, select different cameras and Audio sources. You dont watch the video it in this app, you watch it in quicktime or in any other video app. Just click the file and it plays. Not sure how such a simple app could be hard for any body to use. Take about 10 seconds to figure out.

Crashes frequently when not in use

… but it’s cheap, not very resource intensive, and it records. Exactly what I was looking for. So far, it hasn’t crashed while I’ve been using it- just when running in the background and not in use. I am using OSX 10.9

why

i’m not really sure the purpose of this app. i was expecting to record my screen and such because the screenshot showed a picture of a room and the screen itself. I didn’t expect for it to use my front camera and that was it. Theres no other option and i don’t understand the making movies idea like how are you to make a movie just from your front camera? Whats wrong with the photobooth app on your computer to start with? I think this app is a complete waste of $1.99.

Keeps Crashing

It crashes both when in use (recording) and when it’s running in the background (open but not recording). Useless

Not as promised

Don’t know who wrote the positive reviews. I’m getting a terrible frame rate and no audio. The interface is terribly clumsy. Not as promised.
